APRIL 2024
Woodturner of the Month

Dean Jordan is our May - WOODTURNER of the MONTH. Dean is a native Oregonian and has been a BEAVERSTATE WOODTURNER since its inception. BSWT was founded by Dean Jordan in 2000. Dean had learned about woodturning from his grandfather but was looking for other woodturners. He collaborated with James, the previous owner of Woodcraft. James put up a flyer about the beginning of a time for woodturners to get together and 4 men showed up and BSWT was started.
Dean shared that his favorite item to turn are tall vases. The types of wood he likes best is Black Locust and Golden Chain. Dean shared he wants to learn more about Pyrography. His advice to new turners is to use SHARP TOOLS and that woodturning should be a fun and safe endeavor. Thank you Dean for having the vision to start this club.

MADISON MIDDLE SCHOOL
The club has been asked to teach some of the students at Madison Middle School. Mark, Joel, and Dick Worthey met with the shop teacher, Michael Stade and checked out their available equipment. They found that their equipment needs some work and they are in need of some basic tools. The plan is to set-up a time when some of the club members (YES we will need volunteers) will go to the school and clean and turn-up their equipment. Then, there will be a schedule for working with the students.
